OP, I encourage you to read about all the horror stories of people who used AI as their friend, therapist or romantic partner. So many driven to taking drugs or suicide or whatever their negative tendency was. And remember it doesn’t think. It just scrapes words - true or false. I also strongly agree with the person who said to stop posting AI responses on DCUM. That’s not why we are here.
Agreed. If I wanted to use AI, I would. AI gives average/typical advice that it has aggregated from the web. As an example, if you ask it about European tourism, it will give you answers similar to a Rick Steves guidebook. But that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for individuals' voices and I don't even care if they are wrong. I'm not trading stocks based on DCUM info. I'm impressed by how fast these AI's summarize things. But I'm not looking for that, not on Google (where I could have found similar info in the first few links) and not on online shopping. I agree that it's rarely useful for people to post AI output on DCUM. The exceptions have been comedic. I'm pretty sure AI was used to write the poem "Ode to a Toddler at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on New Year's Eve". Also the outline of a satirical novel about DCUM readers and a Russian troll/infiltrator engaged in college admissions cycle drama. These creative uses were funny in part because of the AI. But AI would never have come up with these ridiculous topics unless it was running at the brute force level of "How many monkeys, typing for how long, would it take to produce Hamlet randomly?". I'm pleased to note that my Google search has switched to offering AI mode as optional. That's how it should be.
