100% gender dependent Men= W&M VA TECH JMU Women= Va Tech Richmond W&M UVA has lost its luster specifically for womens soccer in the past 4 years. Great school. Terrible place to play womens soccer. No pro recruits (real pro no Jr pro(, haven't made it to ACC tournament, haven't gone far in NCAA tournament. Yeah.. they win a few games against Loyola, Howard and Fairleigh Dickinson but get stomped WF, Duke, FSU, Michigan etc. No facilities. You can only live in your 2020 performance for so long.
besides the top 3 listed what are other programs worth playing at? d1, d2 or d3. any less known?
Ok. Here's my UVA take - They made the NCAA tournament last year after what I thought wasn't a great year and have a solid recruiting class coming in with some top ranked players that can make a difference. That being said, I agree that they aren't great when it comes to the facilities, athletic scholarship $$, etc as compared to other top programs. They are trying to ride the prestige of UVA overall to attract players which while great, isn't the only thing. Getting full offers (Tuition, Room & Board, Fees and monthly stipend) from other comparable D1 programs and then being told you can play, but pay in state tuition just isn't cutting it. For women's programs, Christopher Newport should be on the list for D3 programs. They have been solid and made the Final 4 last year. Richmond and W&M - kinda group them in the same bucket. I'd pick W&M over Richmond knowing players and their experiences from both programs.
