I'm the PP with the long labor + pitocin.  I think a lot of the reason that Hyponbirthing worked for me b/c I am very susceptible to suggestion/hypnosis.  Without trying to sound too new-age-y, I was able to completely get "lost" in the scripts and go very deep inside myself both during practice and during labor.  I am the same way during yoga practive.  This may have also been a feature of the type of birth I had.   If it had been more fast and furious, maybe I wouldn't have been able to utilize the techniques.  I think it is worth investigating, though, and try to see if you are able to get relaxation out of the practice of it.

As another previous poster said, I have also used the techniques to deal with painful BH contractions and random pains when pregnant, but also as tools to deal wirh regular, non-pregnancy related stress.

In short, I think if you like yoga and meditation, you will probably get something out of Hypnobirthing.[/quote]
