I am 58. I finished menopause early, and since then I've gained weight every year. I work out, but I'm hungry, so I eat regular meals as I did pre-menopause, but I gain weight. I have that horrible menopot! My legs and hips are thin, my shoulders, back, butt, all are thin, but my waist and boobs are FAT!! I HATE it. I also love to eat, and I eat a very, very healthy diet, exactly what you're supposed to eat post-menopause: lean meats, nuts, seeds, little dairy, lots and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, very little sugar (an occasional cookie or brownie now and then), no alcohol, no soda, just seltzer and coffee, but I can't lose an ounce!! I'm now pre-diabetic, my doctor tells me, because of my weight. I don't know what to do. I hate feeling hungry, and I eat about half the calories I ate 10 years ago, but I can't lose weight! My metabolism has sunk down to almost nothing, I guess. And I exercise regularly, at least 3 times a week, plus lift weights at home. I injured my back, so have to swim, and can't run or do anything like that. Does anyone have any idea how I can lose weight, or am I just stuck forever with this hideous spare tire around my midsection????
You may want to get on GLP-1s, especially if you’re pre-diabetic. You probably only need to eat around 700 calories a day if you’re not losing weight. I’m only 43 so I don’t have direct experience with this, but I did lose 30 pounds on semaglutide over a year. Unfortunately, a 1,200 - 1,500 calorie diet was too much for me and with Sema, I was easily able to easily cut down to 700-900 calories and lost the weight. Good luck!
