Yes it’s Op — maybe I do have an issue!  I was just trying to do an informal survey of what other kids in the incoming class are doing, since an alternative is offered.   I know my kid won’t want to be the only one teadkng the alternate choice.  My spouse actually  has done a lot of work in this area.  I see the value of the topic and how it fits with the apex curriculum but it’s not what I would have picked for young girls.  Was really just trying to get an anonymous survey but I don’t think enough incoming 9th grade parents responded.  I initially didn’t post the book title because I didn’t want this to turn into a forum for debating whether it was an appropriate choice or not — just wanted to know if people were reading it or gojng with the alternative.

OP, I mean this with the best intentions. It's time to let go of the reins as it relates to reading. Let your child read the assigned books or make decisions not to, of their own accord. This is good for them and age-appropriate. I know that this transition can be difficult for parents and kids but you should let them figure some stuff out on their own now.[/quote]
