People whose children are already in private school should be exempted from getting vouchers. You already made the choice, you can clearly avoid it, or are getting financial aid. Let other people have an opportunity, selfish OP.
You've just discovered by Republicans love vouchers. They want taxpayers to subsidize their kid's private school tuition.
Maybe so. But there's also a lot of people who want to pressure the public schools into improving by giving more people an opportunity to vote with their feet. It ought to be abundantly clear that the public school monopoly is a problem. 17% of MoCo high schoolers already attend private schools without vouchers.
It's not just that. Ideally vouchers should be a way to provide people with less means the exact same flexibility that people who have more financial assets (or grandparent help) have. There are definitely people who would be at private if they could afford it because they care about education. Don't those people matter? Now I'm not saying vouchers actually fix this in practice. I'm just saying this is how many voucher supporters think. And I say that as someone paying full tuition for my kids at private school.
