Then even if you meet the requirements, you have to relocate to Oklahoma City for training, then you have to relocate again for your on the job training for 2-3 years, and then you’re a full fledged ATC. But you still have to maintain the ongoing health requirements. I do agree that maybe our high schools and community colleges, and even 4 year colleges, should do a better job of promoting careers in air traffic control though. [/quote]

This says $70k+ once you’re a permanent hire. https://www.faa.gov/jobs/career_fields/aviation_careers Not sure if that’s base salary or includes all the mandatory overtime. Also not sure how much they are paid during the training period - you have to be 30 and under to get accepted into ATC training school, so it’s really only a job for young people but probably wouldn’t be accessible if you were already married with kids. Increase pay, offer to pay off student loans if you make it through the 2-3 year training, incentivize universities to create pipelines, etc.  it’s actually not that hard, we just don’t make this a priority.  If you made 100k straight out of training, people would relocate to OK for a few years.  People do it for Teach for America, rural medical programs, etc.  You have to incentivize it.[/quote]
+1 this is a good plan.    This job is very stressful, but if you provide enough incentive, you might find more people willing to go into the field.[/quote]
