Then even if you meet the requirements, you have to relocate to Oklahoma City for training, then you have to relocate again for your on the job training for 2-3 years, and then you’re a full fledged ATC. But you still have to maintain the ongoing health requirements. I do agree that maybe our high schools and community colleges, and even 4 year colleges, should do a better job of promoting careers in air traffic control though. [/quote]

Frankly this should be front page news. What happened to good American jobs being filled by American.  The fact that FAA training happens in Oklahoma is even more amazing given where they rank nationally for education and seem to be trying to find the basement.[/quote]

Seriously.  Maybe they should pay ATCs more.  Why don't they set up training somewhere else in addition to Oklahoma?

They can make the job more desirable.  Like H1Bs, it's BS to say Americans can't/won't do the job.  It's a financial issue, not a supply issue.[/quote]

They’d never set up a training facility outside OK because 1) the OK congressional delegation would never allow it, gotta protect the monopoly and 2) we aren’t investing in this country anymore anyway. You’ll take your H1B ATC and like it. [/quote]
