[/quote] Buying stock or bonds from an actual company that does actual things and employs actual people to do those things is a legitimate investment and a good thing for society. You own part of the company and/or debt from that company. You enable economic growth and, if the company does well, get the benefit from that. There are regulatory guardrails that attempt to ensure that public companies are accurate in their financial reports and that prospective investors are aware of the risks involved. There is legal recourse available to investors in the case of fraud. None of that exists for cryptocurrency. Crypto does nothing good for society and is effectively useless for normal business transactions. Why would I want to divert my investable cash into that?[/quote]
