I am in the upper Midwest on a PTA scholarship committee. Church/temple/religious commitments are considered the same as other significant extracurricular commitments. All faith involvement is equal. It's not my place to have any reaction related to the doctrines of these faiths. I am not familiar with Young Life and even if it's hyper-conservative that's not my business. It's true that it's more impressive if the activities have a community service focus (benefit others instead of diverting oneself).[/quote]
