+1 and drive defensively, and don't make eye contact with aggressive drivers.   Always lock your car doors when driving. This was pre-automatic door locks on cars.  When you come home late at night, and park outside, check your surroundings first before you get out of the car.  One time I came home late, parked on the curb and was about to get out when some guy came up to my window asking for gas money. [b] Don't roll down your window all the way to talk. Just open it up a crack so you can hear clearly.[/b]  I made sure he left before I got out of the car.

I grew up in LA, and not the pretty wealthy parts.  That's how I drive in LA.  Here in MoCo, I drive aggressively, and make eye contact with stupid drivers.

You gotta know your surroundings, and behave accordingly.

When we travel, I told my kids not to put their phones in the backpockets.  Apparently, not all parents tell their kids this because DC's friend did that, and got their phone stolen right from their back pocket.  Of course, there are other travel smarts that people are aware of, but for some reason, some people don't have those same smarts at home.  I guess it's because they feel comfortable.[/quote]
