We ghosted 2 hair stylists that had moved to inconvenient places, dirty places, and gave poor service. They never reached out. I did write a note to one stylist I had been seeing for 14 years. I hadn't known the last visit was the last until I got home, washed my hair and saw the awful vut he gave me, way shorter without asking me. I thanked him for the years and wished him well. Never heard back but I think it was appropriate in that case.
So many stylists don't know how to maintain a cut, so instead of a trim you get your hair lopped off. This is the #1 reason I dump a salon/stylist. The owners need to educate their stylists to listen to the clients because I'm not going to just stop using that stylist - I'm not going back to that salon. I have good thick wavy hair that looks great shoulder length. It's easier to maintain at that length. One male stylist I saw for too long thought all moms of my age should have a bob. He ignored my input every time. I started going in less often to let my hair grow out and he complained about that. The last time he gave me a short shag hair cut and that was it. During covid I went for a few years without a cut. I had been through some horrible stuff during that time and was just recovering. I found a stylist I had used years before who I loved at a new salon. I let her know what I had been through and told her I just wanted my hair shaped up a little and only agreed to 1" off. I had long hair below my shoulders. She chopped off my hair in the worst cut I've ever had in my life. The manager at the salon knew she'd done a horrible job and walked up front with me and told me she could fix it if I wasn't happy. How are going to fix missing hair?
