Can’t you put a weight bench in your backyard and steer him to some YouTube videos? Seriously a personal trainer for a 15 yo? This is like the poster who wanted a stylist for their 13 yo DD. Then we wonder why kids can’t solve problems.
Very different. A kid with no experience can get seriously injured, develop really poor form which lays a foundation for future injury, get sucked into the manosphere, receive endless marketing for expensive supplements he does not need… the list goes on. None of my children got stylists. All of them got trainers to work with until they understood what they were doing. In gyms that had healthy cultures, not steroid shops. Then they transitioned to working out independently or with friends at the gym, and also at home using their own body weight for resistance. To the OP— you are on the right track. Ignore the noise.
While I don’t share the manosphere or steroid shop concerns, I agree that correct form is important. My DS took some weightlifting classes at 14 and 15. At 16 he’s pretty good at going to the gym on his own. But DH and I occasionally spot check him for form and his coaches in his sport does the same.
