Apparently it was really foggy out and she thought she hit a cone. Not a good look though to not call police if you see a suitcase attached to your car. I am also wondering why someone was walking with a suitcase on a highway? Alcohol not a factor so maybe a terrible tragedy?
Sounds like they should put in a sidewalk if there's a bus stop and a train station there so people don't get hit like this. If she hit someone who was walking down the road, she would know if she had her wits about her at all. But also, the fact that it was the middle of the night and foggy does seem like it could be a factor. But to not see a huge pink suitcase when you fully ran over it? Very indicative that she was drunk.
This. I have never been to the hamptons but the idea of rich people getting off a train and hoofing it down a long stretch of road is hilarious to a commoner like me. Don't they have car services and ubers?
The previous article (linked in the NY Post story) says the victim was hit near Villa Paul. I looked it up on Google maps and it appears there is a sidewalk there. The linked article also says that the victim was walking in the roadway in the westbound lane, which means she was in the road facing traffic - maybe trying to cross the street? Also, it was 3 in the afternoon, so sure she could have been drinking, but maybe not.
The accident was at 3 in the morning....
Yeah, that NY Post article is wrong. You do wonder why the lady that got hit was in the middle of the road with her suitcase at 3 in the morning.
Maybe both of them are to blame...
