The entire mindset there is that those students are not intelligent and won’t be successful in college. That is for students just placed into Alg 1 not even students needing extra support for Alg 1 materials. Obviously parents who have children who struggle with math understand that their kids have to work hard to get it and need extra support and see their intelligence in other areas.
