We are potentially interested in this program if it provides added support for AP academics, rather than us having to hire multiple tutors as our neighbors do for their kids. We've been told by many that Yorktown (all of NoVA actually) can be a pressure-cooker, overly competitive academic environment and not a great fit for an average student, with mild ADHD, like our son who is not gunning for 4.0+ grades but is satisfied with and works hard for Bs. We've been told by Wakefield parents that academic environment is not overly stressful and supportive for their kids. Added bonus is title 1 program of guaranteed admission to George Mason.

And thanks for useful info about sports and video interview above (already watched and passed on to Fairfax parents I know). Our son is a multi-sport travel level athlete and plans to tryout for 2 sports in high school so this transfer info is very useful. But, if he starts Wakefield as a freshman, I hope the new rules don't apply to him in an option program, but I will ask.[/quote]
