Earlier this week, a lawyer told me about the lookback period for Medicaid if my parent needs to apply for Medicaid one day. My parent won't need Medicaid, but this had me wondering if it would even be around for elderly people to apply for if they run out of money??
What they have done is greatly increase the red tape, rules and regulations for receiving benefits while firing most of the employees that deal with the general public. This will greatly reduce the people who will receive benefits they are entitled to by law. It will be very hard to actually receive benefits. In addition the responsibility to fund the benefits will be pushed down to the states. They will either drop the programs or have problems funding the programs. This has turn Medicaid in to an unfunded mandate in many states. The Republicans are now everything they use to complain and campaign against -bureaucracy with excessive regulations, paperwork and designed to hinder or slow down processes plus unfunded mandates to the states. It is a shocking turn.
