They run a concession stand throughout the summer with swim team volunteer hours.  So members can get snacks, drinks, etc.  The team makes money off of it but also give the pool a percentage of the net.  On Friday nights the team sells "Dinner on Deck" so families come after work and buy whatever the dinner is that night.  It is a lot of fun.  Sometimes it is burgers and dogs, Chick-fil-a, pizza, spaghetti night, etc. The team profits from it but it creates a strong sense of community.

The team has done a lot to beautify the pool and the team generally does the bulk of the get the pool ready for the season work. Cleaning, setting up furniture, etc.  I spoke to a friend at another pool and their pool culture sounds very similar.  The swim team does a lot for the pool and in return the Board and the general membership are fine with meets, etc.  I am floored when I hear of teams not being liked by their Board/Membership.  I always wonder what is the team doing to help the pool?  And I know some teams are kind of jerks.
