We’ve stayed multiple times at the marriot vacation club facility at poipu beach.  I love poipu.  Those are 2 bedroom suites with kitchens but it’s definitely a family type facility with lots of kids.  But I think that’s going to be true most places with suites and lkitchens.  The rooms are nice and there is a bar at the pools, and it’s right on the beach.  Great snorkeling right off the beach and almost always a monk seal hanging out there.  Sometimes turtles too.

Have heard great things about Mauna Kea but have not stayed there.

The Westin is showing its age, but the views are absolutely stunning. The staff were decent, though during our last visit, there was only one person at the front desk handling check-in, and they seemed preoccupied with counting cash, which was quite strange. I did not love our room, wasn't super clean and it was old looking.

On the other hand, the Mauna Kea has undergone some renovations and is passable. However, the pool area feels a bit worn and lacking charm. The beach at the Westin is definitely superior. Fortunately, it’s easy to stroll between the two locations.[/quote]
