Downtown won’t release the mid year MAP science results. My guess is that they don’t want to show how disastrous Amplify Science is. They announced this week that they’re getting rid of MAP science for next year so there will not be any objective measure that shows how little kids learn with Amplify until 8th grade CAPE at which point they’ll be done with middle school. Please email the chancellor and the mayor’s office. MAP Science is a decent test. Amplify is the worst program I’ve seen in two decades of teaching, and headquarters keeps ramping it up rather than cutting it.
What do you mean? The citywide results? If you are a science teacher (which is the only person who would know that they aren't "released") you can go into NWEA and see the citywide averages yourself. Why do YOU need to know how each individual school did? Also, if you do need to know this, you can just ask other teachers at other schools how their students did. If everyone hates Amplify, as you say, I am sure people will be willing to share their students' MAP test results. MAP Science is actually NOT that great and it is nothing like the DC CAPE science test that is far too long. It also asks students to do more than on the ELA/Math test with far less time, over far more information. In 8th grade, they are supposed to take it for all 3 years of science that they learn.
I am not a teacher but transparency is important. Why hide each schools results for? The only reason I can think is that they are so bad, that is why. And no, teachers are not going to know teachers at every school to know other schools results. But even more important is that parents and families also should have that information, and it be transparent. DCPS is sh’tshow and this further erodes familie’s confidence in the system with all the opaque issues going on already such as selective HS admissions and now this. Also as a parent, IMO MAP is a hell of a lot better than CAPE. Not only do you get the results quickly, but it is also adaptive so it can see how much your kid actually knows and gives them harder questions if they get the current one right. People like you are the problem, not OP, as to why DCPS is not forced to do better to educate their kids. People like you are why the
