Downtown won’t release the mid year MAP science results. My guess is that they don’t want to show how disastrous Amplify Science is. They announced this week that they’re getting rid of MAP science for next year so there will not be any objective measure that shows how little kids learn with Amplify until 8th grade CAPE at which point they’ll be done with middle school. Please email the chancellor and the mayor’s office. MAP Science is a decent test. Amplify is the worst program I’ve seen in two decades of teaching, and headquarters keeps ramping it up rather than cutting it.
What do you mean? The citywide results? If you are a science teacher (which is the only person who would know that they aren't "released") you can go into NWEA and see the citywide averages yourself. Why do YOU need to know how each individual school did? Also, if you do need to know this, you can just ask other teachers at other schools how their students did. If everyone hates Amplify, as you say, I am sure people will be willing to share their students' MAP test results. MAP Science is actually NOT that great and it is nothing like the DC CAPE science test that is far too long. It also asks students to do more than on the ELA/Math test with far less time, over far more information. In 8th grade, they are supposed to take it for all 3 years of science that they learn.
