This is the very, very least of my worries. “Terrible memories” of celebrating your kid’s birthday during Covid? Are you for real? I have terrible memories of all the suffering of people whose loved ones died, including a coworker whose entire immediate family died of Covid: parents and 2 sisters. Sorry OP, something about the tone of your post has clearly rubbed me the wrong way. I’m pretty sure all of our kids are going to be just fine with less toys. Probably better off really.
Yes, OP and I also have terrible memories of my best friend’s parents dying seemingly out of nowhere, my FIL with dementia getting covid in memory care and stopping eating and none of us being allowed to go in, and on and on. But this thread isn’t about “what’s the worst thing that happened to you during the pandemic.” It’s about something now that I can control. Moreover, it is allowed and ok and perhaps shows complexity of thought and emotion that I can remember family tragedies at the same time and moment that I can have terrible memories of a child’s birthday disappointment. Do you never have more than one thought and feeling at a time?! Are your memories and feelings the only right way to exist? I bought LOL dolls, for what it’s worth. They are small and plastic-y and definitely not made in the USA and I think that they’ll go perfectly with whatever else DD is into in 7 months.
