Arlington is the worst at these ages. There is one coach for two teams with an assistant. This means one coach is coaching 30 kids in practice and the lower teams usually gets the assistant as coach of their games. Second team is lucky to get any interaction with the coach. The coach spends all their time with the top 4-6 on the first team and ignores the rest. This runs counter to recommendations of that age group in terms of coach per player ratios. This catches up to Arlington in the older ages. So second team Arlington(and all even teams-2, 4, 6, etc) are the red head step child of the soccer world.
Each coach gets 2 teams because the size of the teams are so small ~10 players and without 2 teams you could never actually scrimmage 7v7.... it makes sense and at the end of the day at this young age all that matters is touches on the ball and games and thats what they are getting.... the kids that have natural ability will rise to the top with good or bad coaches at that age.. playing is what matters
Or two teams could have different coaches and just practice at the same time and scrimmage (that's what our club does with the top two teams at the younger age groups). Agree with PP that one coach for 30 kids is crazy.
