The information is not misleading, anyone who has completed Algebra 1 H by 8th grade, has a 3.5 GPA, has taken Honors Science and Math and at least one other Honors class, can apply for TJ. And yes, it is partly to make TJ more attainable for kids from underrepresented MS, who, for the most part, come from ES that did not a path that made Geometry in 8th grade as easily attainable.

They should also be emphasising the STEM requirements for graduation, like having to take Calculus, and four years of science, and a research seminar and the like. That information should be in the first paragraph of the TJ material that they are passing out. TJ is a school for very bright kids, yes, but there are additional STEM requirements that everyone has to take. If you don't want to take Calculus, don't apply. [/quote]
