Track is a late recruiting sport, you will not get money for running track, you will not get a free ride for track, only “merit” from the school, and you’re not going to get into a top school just by running good times. You will have to be somewhat close (bottom quartile or test optional) academically. There also just aren’t that many track spots open, (but more for girls than boys) especially at the d1 level.
