https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/colorado/news/misgendering-colorado-transgender-rights-bill-impact-child-custody-cases/ I see there are protections for transgender people in this bill that are positive. But NO WAY should the state be able to forcibly remove your custody of your children. If they feel you don’t affirm their gender identity, it’s child abuse. What about kids who may be confused and need professional help to work through if they truly feel that way.
The bill summary does NOT say this, and Jarvis mischaracterized the bill. What it says: Section 2 provides that, when making child custody decisions and determining the best interests of a child for purposes of parenting time, a court shall consider deadnaming, misgendering, or threatening to publish material related to an individual's gender-affirming health-care services as types of coercive control. A court shall consider reports of coercive control when determining the allocation of parental responsibilities in accordance with the best interests of the child. That's not alleging abuse. That simply puts this into the context of best interests, which is inherently broad. Coercive control can be expressed in all manner of ways.
Good grief. Then, there is this.... "A court shall consider reports of coercive control when determining the allocation of parental responsibilities in accordance with the best interests of the child." So, a parent can lose custody because he or she believes in science. Ridiculous.
