I thought it was quite unlikely to get rejected from summer programs if one had decent enough grades, ability to pay, and applied on time (excluding the highly competitive specialized math programs).
Applied on time for 3 week residential college. All A/A- except 1 B+ (which has now improved to A-). Private school. No SAT score yet.
Reddit, a lot on waitlist, they anticipate many have alternatives. Just wait and see. Did your DC get in other programs?
Only applied to this one. It is far and away dc’s dream school. Idk why tbh.
Tell your DC not to get discouraged. My son get denied a spot in the summer program and was accepted as a first year via EA one year later.
Thanks for this. What happened in between all of that? Did he do a different summer program? Apply elsewhere ED?
No. He's my first so frankly we were not aware of these summer programs until later into his junior year, when he started showing some interest in college. Which also ironically was spurred by the much maligned spam emails of UChicago. A certain email subject line from UChicago piqued his interest. So he applied to two summer programs that year. I'd like to say the other was Columbia but I cannot be certain. He got rejected to both. The following fall was his senior year so he just applied EA to UChicago and RD to a host of other schools. He had good outcomes.
Tysm
