Firefighter who starts fires. They hate religion so much, they keep it alive by fighting it. Without their pointless questions, half the debate would die out. True Atheist/ Agnostic would be ignoring it.
None of this makes sense. They "keep religion alive by fighting it"? Absurd at its core. Are you really saying that if atheists stopped fighting religion it would die out lol? And of course the debate would die out if people stopped debating (lol again). But that is not what atheists are debating for...to win an argument or to "keep a debate alive". We debate or fight religion because we deeply believe that there are genuine and very real harms of religion...which have all been outlined in several previous threads. Your last point that makes no sense is that being an atheist or agnostic means that you "ignore" religion. Again absurd. Being an atheist, the very definition of the word, has no basis in whether or not you "ignore" religion. It is simply, by definition, the lack of a belief in a god. If you genuinely want to know why atheists argue against religion, keeping in mind that people like me do not hate religious people, nor do we knock on your doors, then I'm sure myself and many others will be glad to oblige by enumerating the many and varied ways in which religion has caused harm and continues to do harm. I feel it is my moral duty to at least speak out when the chance arises.
Keeping religion alive by fighting it is the debate in here. Energy flows where attention goes. Antitheism isn’t just lack of belief it’s active opposition.
Yes I actively oppose religion whenever the opportunity arises…not by forcing my opinion on others (as was done to me and my family in a horrific way) but rather by merely expressing this opinion when there is a discussion where it would be appropriate to do so. And again..how in the world is debating religion keeping it alive lol? If all it took to have religion die out was for atheists to stop discussing it then I would bet we all would have it over with tomorrow. The premise makes no sense
