I think algebra in 8th grade is pretty standard — the geometry in 8th grade is usually not a good idea and at dhms is not taught well.  
The kids are grouped into teams.  None of the teams is a “gifted team”.  You take classes with other kids in your team all three years of middle school.  There’s no gifted tracking, and everyone can take intensified classes.  My older child who is gifted had the same teachers as my middle one who is not.  Same homework.  There’s nothing explicit when you get to middle school, just the label.  [/quote]
There is no gifted "team", but they tell use there are gifted clusters within the intensified classes.  I don't know that they're obvious to kids or parents, but that's what DHMS reports when describing its gifted services.[/quote][/quote]
