Literacy: reread the comment. They are reading the Google IT in the 6th grade, not the 8th grade.

7th grade at DHMS they just finished the Outsiders. Most of English is on paper. They each get a copy of what they are reading.

Math has a textbook that comes home with your student at the start of the year. But homework is iXL. Math is a mix of paper and iPad. As long as your child starts with pre-algebra in 6, they will be at least a little challenged.

That "textbook" is a joke and the same sort of "textbook" the elementary schools get that is completely ignored.  I think my DS attempted one page in it, but had to spend more time completing IXLs on his ipad to get credit[/quote]

I think if you read it, it doesn't actually teach anything.  If your child doesn't understand the material, they are not going to get it from this workbook unless you sit down with them and teach them from it.  It's put together with the perspective that a teacher is supposed to be guiding you through it.  
So it's also assuming a parent would understand how to teach it.   so you know not complaining, but still not a real textbook.
