While these podcasts give you some info, most of it is marketing for their services. More than that they create stress and FOMO. Use only podcasts by current AO's, not former AO's who now do counseling. I looked into many of them, spoke with them, and found them to be less than useful, especially when considering highly competitive colleges. This is where they shine - making the process look more complex and littered with pitfalls. Only they can help you navigate this.
Your College Bound Kid has no sponsors or commercials. It’s too much for some people and can get respective if you’ve been listening for a long time but I think it is the most helpful.
All of YCBK is a low-key advertisement for their counseling service. But listening to AOs isn’t any better—they’re all low-key advertising their colleges. Everyone’s talking their book.
It’s very low key and fairly unobtrusive. Feels useful and not a shill. The College Admissions Process Podcast is pretty good. He’s a high school principal who interviews an admissions rep from a different college each episode.
