This is the real differentiator.  The difference in prestige outside of DCUM isn't that significant to make an impact.  I also grew up in NY and knew no one who went to or sent their kids to UVA or UGA.  It really is more regional. We aren't talking about Harvard vs. some other school that is lower ranked, but I'm not going to name b/c I don't want to be insulting to people.[/quote]I grew up in NYC and people went to UVA, but not UGA. I did too and you are correct. I have to admit, I will feel a little sheepish when I tell my NY friends that my kid will be going to UGA, which is likely, whereas I wouldn't have that feeling were he going to UVA, where he didn't get in. [/quote]
