Also consider how long the breaks are and if that works for you. I think Georgia is typical semester (so they start earlier in January and finish in early May), but Tennessee has a winter mini-term in January so that means they start after MLK day and finals are finishing around May 15. It definitely impacts the amount of time they can actually work over the summer (since the fall semester starts about the 3rd week in August).

Jesus  Christ, is your kid an adult or not? If they can't drive by themselves on the interstate at 18-22, when do you expect them to pick up this basic life skill? And I-81 isn't exactly treacherous. The most dangerous part is the Virginia State Police looking to nab anyone for going 5 mph over the limit.[/quote]
