Spanish Immersion is being touted as some sort of desirable option by schools which are Spanish-language anyway. These schools have such a high percentage of ESL students, that English is the exception, not the norm. Go ahead and enroll your student with the expectation that her street Spanish will be terrific. Her Spanish literacy may leave a lot to be desired, given that the majority of her classmates's parents are illiterate in their own language. Her English will be absolutely horrible unless you dedicate yourself to home-schooling. [/quote]
