Through a project-based approach, students will be introduced to the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors associated with successful management of personal finances. Students will explore the benefits of making informed decisions; setting financial goals; using electronic banking and credit safely; creating a spending plan, and understanding values, needs, and wants. Hands-on activities and multidisciplinary projects in this unit are designed to be fast-paced and engaging as students get ready to take charge of their own personal finances. FACS Grade 8 Students will learn basic skills using hands-on techniques. They will learn time management, food preparation and creative crafts. FACS incorporates a variety of interdisciplinary principles. Reading, writing, scientific principles, and math are an integral part of instruction and are used for the purpose of making connections between assessments, concepts, and laboratory experiences.
