A few years ago the survey gave the option of spring break connected to Easter or to emancipation day and parents picked emancipation day. Which sometimes also coincided with Easter but didn’t always. [/quote]

How did DCPS create the SY 26-29 Calendars?

We want to thank the over 1,800 members of our community who shared feedback in the Fall 2024 survey. This feedback was critical in the finalization of these calendars. For example:

[/quote] There must be inflated responses with the same people from Maryland going through the survey many times over. There is no way most people picked that stupid formula for spring break. Although I picked Emancipation Day week, every option besides the Maryland NoVA spring breaks are better! Spring break should be secular at the same time every year! That's one thing DC has gotten right since 2017. This moving the break based on Easter is ridiculous and dumb unless you are a Private Christian school. Even then the Catholic and other Christian schools usually do by the week AFTER Easter not before. This is also a guess based on past practices as NOBODY has released their 26-27 calendar let alone 
27-28/28-29.[/quote]

There are a significant number of teachers in DC who have kids in Maryland schools and vice versa. Regardless of when it is, I really wish they liked spring break through the region as well as charter/DCPS
