Exactly what your stupid mayor asked for. FORCE workers back to office. She was too dumb to understand what she was asking.
Uh, a return to office does not automatically mean we have to lay off thousands of feds. Very few feds took the Fork buy out, less than the normal attrition numbers for the year, even though you'd think if RTO were really that unpopular, more would have. Most feds I know are willing to go back to the office full time, albeit reluctantly for many (the flexibility of WFH even just one day a week is very hard to give up, especially for parents). It's perfectly reasonable for the mayor of a city to support in-office requirements for one of the city's biggest employers. They could have done RTO and not done layoffs. I hate Muriel Bowser for other reasons, but supporting RTO was a no-brainer for her and I support that position in DC government. Obviously we don't support gutting the federal workforce, especially not in this vindictive, haphazard, cruel and irresponsible way. No one here asked for that, including Mayor Bowser.
