I do not dispute that the federal government - like any other business - can be optimized. But it seems to be a transfer of money here rather than generating efficiency. Please correct me with some facts if I am wrong. And don't argue that the other party did it and so we are doing it too.

Now you can understand why Musk wants to fire regulators at NHTSA! They didn't want customers to be guinea pigs to sort out software issues. Musk doesn't care. They are collateral damage for "progress". And if regulators are in the way, they are evil government employees who get fired. I think even the MAGA folks didn't plan for this!
