Yes. Watching. It’s aggravating. Dear god, the writing. I think the actors are doing what they can. Unfortunately, they can’t do much with the stilted dialogue, especially for the male characters. I cannot explain to why I watch this show and yet I’m literarily watching as I wrote this. It reminds me of that show 7th Heaven which was also bad!
Me too. The men are written like a chaste romance novel, where the biggest turn-on is how the men sit around talking about their feelings with each other and everyone acknowledges their shortcomings and mistakes. I would like to inhabit a world like that, where close friendships endure and the men are all sensitive yet strong, but it's written so awkwardly. I enjoy seeing the polite children! Semi spoilerish commentary questions . . . . Helen and Eric were always the redeeming characters until this season when they both bugged me. I did enjoy hearing Helen sing and that she brought CeCe in. I still like Dana Sue's daughter and Maddie's younger son. Good that they called Maddie on some of her annoying characteristics. But I was shocked when it ended and she didn't announce her intention to run for mayor. It feels like it's all leading up to that. But sloooowly. When are they going to fully reveal Eric's past?! Or did that happen when I zoned out. former EMT. but what's his major trauma? Ronnie's sister was way too over the top wicked witch. The two bad guys running off together, too much. I sort of thought Victoria's +1 might be her and Cal's daughter. That would've shaken things up! I was only half watching most of the time so I didn't fully understand who the guy Cal was fighting. Former teammate who took on his position, right? But what was the fight about?
It's back! I still have a lot of these questions. Plus why does the acting and script get worse every season? Just watched the first one ... I'm home sick and may just go back to watching the ceiling fan. Disappointed.
Is it overdone? Do they still have subpar acting Spears?
Yes and yes. Tbh I didn't think the acting is totally horrible, but the lines the actors are given are pretty week. Maybe some could be rescued by better timing, but... I could use a warm comfort watch now.
Yep, bad lines = bad acting
