You can't make generics (which is basically what the compounded pharmacies are making) until drugs are off patent. There is an exception to that when prescription drugs that are on patent are in a shortage. Wegovy and Zepbound have been in a shortage, which has resulted in the allowance of the compounding. I believe Zepbound is already off the shortage list, and there is no longer a shortage of Wegovy and it will likely come off the shortage list very soon. That will mean: no more compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. You'll have to buy the brand name if you want the medication. I'm sure illegal compounding will go on, but it will go underground and anyone who buys it will be ... being profoundly stupid. [/quote]
