OP here. My first is named Lena. 50% of the time people get her name pronunciation right as "Lee-na" and others say "Len-a."

With both names, it it a matter of pronouncing a short or long vowel for the "e" and "i."

Okay, naming your kids Lena and Liza is an awful idea. I say this as someone named Kathy with a brother Kevin, and cousins to Sima and Sara (who are sisters). The cutesy thing is awful. The alliteration is awful. Use your second choice. [/quote]

Yes she does, read carefully.  I don't mind alliteration at all but the matchy-matchy Lena and Liza thing goes way beyond that, not just that people will roll their eyes at it but to the point that people will constantly be mixing up which of the kids has which name.[/quote]
