Hosting at parents house, 50guesrs with sit down lunch. Rented tables. Food decoration. What expect for budget in Bay Area?
DC area was about $1000 for food beverage party favors. 25 people and tables, chair rental , decor was additional. 3 food servings-buffet stuff out for arrival, light lunch [mini sandwiches, salads, bagel spread], dessert. Items that you would normally refrigerate/heat need to be refrigerated/reheated. Replenish as needed. Too many hosts leave stuff out for way past the norm at these sorts of home hosted events. No alcohol served. Or per person glass for a toast only. I would not do an at home shower unless there is plenty of open space inside for the tables and chairs based on weather. At 50 people and a "hot" meal this needs to be at a venue unless you go full blown wedding caterer.
