If the car comes to a very sudden stop, they also can become a projectile flying forward into the people in the front seat. I explained this to my MIL when I insisted she buckle up in the back seat with my kid (she wanted to sit next to him). An unbuckled passenger isn't just a risk to themselves.[/quote]
