But, not washing hands after using the bathroom would be a deal breaker for me.[/quote] That’s not necessarily true. My kids are too young to mask, and our nanny doesn’t always catch their colds. Drinking directly from the family’s OJ bottle was an additional exposure that was absolutely unnecessary. Pouring OJ into a glass is far less onerous than wearing a mask all day. OP, I do think your nanny’s behavior is gross, especially the lack of handwashing. But she probably lied about thinking it was her bottle of OJ because she was embarrassed. She sounds young. If she is, I would explain your hygiene expectations and ask if she can abide by them. If she says yes, I would give her another chance. She may have not been taught this stuff at home. As you noted, lots of people go off to college with a lack of basic hygiene. [/quote]
