Just received the following text: "Alert Montgomery - Cold Emergency Alert Montgomery County has extended the Cold Emergency Alert until Friday, 1/10 at 1pm. Residents should be prepared for wind chill values to be below 20 degrees. These dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin within 30 minutes and/or hypothermia. Stay indoors if possible." Wondering if MCPS will considering staying closed for the rest of the week.
You must be kidding or a troll. This is still *well* into outdoor recess temperature in rational parts of the country.
Those kids have the proper gear.
A winter coat, hat, and gloves... That's not cold enough to need anything special. Work with your PTA if you don't think your elementary school has some of those to distribute to kids in need. In a climate that experiences winter, it is reasonable to expect kids to have those for the purpose of opening school.
