I agree more with board books than anything else.  5 of them can be $40-$50 at retail.

We had "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" book and stuffie merch (that's what I was looking for when I found the URL for the gift box store).  Eric Carle board books are quite nice.  Two other titles are "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "The Tiny Seed".

I also liked the pair of "I Love My Mommy Because" and "I Love My Daddy Because" by Laurel Porter Gaylord.  (Making assumptions that these apply to your giftee.) These books sound treacly but they are actually mostly about animal behavior and parenting.

Two books that my family found funny were "No, No, Yes, Yes"  and "Quiet Loud" by Leslie Patricelli.

I'm also just remembering that I loved Bumkins Superbibs (not the junior bib or sleeved bib).  I didn't like regular fabric bibs because they never came clean.  But Superbibs did, so I bought multiples and used to give them as gifts.  Bumkins is on Amazon.

One final thought...because Sophie the Giraffe teether is all natural, she doesn't last as a souvenir of babyhood.  She gets stiff and crumbly and has to be trashed.  I discovered this when ours was about 10 years old.[/quote]
