Sports like track and field may compete in large meets against D1 schools…but are still not D1 at MIT. There is always a disconnect regarding athletes and acceptance. Nobody claims MIT is accepting 1000 SAT basketball players like Duke…however, if you have high SAT and great grades and the coach supports your admission, your acceptance odds are 60%+. It’s still not 100% like it would be at Harvard, but you don’t need any national awards or other incredible ECs other than your sport. [/quote]
