For my kids, at the Williamsburg site, I was comfortable standing in line with him till he got to the top of the stairs, and then going over to wait at the bottom of the slides, by the time they were about 6 or 7. I wasn't comfortable with them being out of my sight in the water, unless it was the super shallow water by the climbing structure, so I'd move from place to place and watch from the side, and I wanted to be in the water with them in the wave pool and the lazy river.
