The thing is, kids aren't watching TV anyway. Rounding them up to watch The Waltons would feel like punishment to them. I could see it being effective if you start them off young before they're hooked on tablets and YouTube.. When DD was really young she decided she liked to watch Father Knows Best. The furnishings and clothes fascinated her and she thought Kitty was fancy. :)
Yeah. This is the real problem. There are some wholesome shows available but my kids would much rather play games with their friends online anyway. But I agree all creatures great and small is great. There are also some great non fiction ones — I like behind the scenes at disney animal kingdom — the animal caretakers and vets are all such kind, caring people. And similarly I really liked Dr Dee Alaskan Vet — ahe was genuinely nice and kind to all the humans and animals she encountered. Km’s convenience is a sitcom with a really good loving family. I also liked Gentefied but there’s definitely swearing and some drug use in that one (but even Albert ingalls had a drug problem on little house so…). There’s also older shows like family Ties that might resonate with your kids.
