Every school in MCPS can be said to have a "bad" reputation NEC - low test scores, low graduation DCC - just read about what some people have said on this board about Kennedy and kids with ankle bracelets BCC - violent fights caught on video after the football game Sherwood - racist taunting at sports games Churchill - high pressure leading to mental health issues RM - high profile security incidents recently We could go on. Name a school and people on this board will give you the bad. In reality all MCPS high schools are basically very good schools but all of them have some negative aspects because no place is perfect
I don't know, if you talk to kids that recently went to certain schools they might say differently. Students in schools with large percentages of low-income kids see a lot in their time there. And recent MCPS grads say their schools didn't adequately prepare them for college. https://wjpitch.com/top-stories/2021/01/15/does-mcps-prepare-students-for-future-success/ FWIW I have a kid in a DCC ES. We plan on staying in the system, but we're not going to pretend it's awesome. We want awareness of MCPS's failures so they get their act together.
